Well, our biggest boy started second grade this morning. He looks so handsome and grown up in his school uniform! We're very happy with the relaxed requirements at this school--no tie, no dress shoes. He can wear khaki shorts or pants, a white or navy polo, and sneakers. Very easy, and much more practical for recess.

We all drove him to school this morning. It took a half-hour to get downtown, but afternoon pickup will be quicker since it won't be in rush hour traffic. Ryan walked him into his classroom--he had a desk with his name on it and his own hook to hang his backpack, etc. He is sitting next to another boy with an archangel first name and Irish last name, very appropriate. He was a bit nervous about not knowing any of the other kids, but went right to his spot and didn't seem to notice when Ryan left. We'll all go in to pick him up this afternoon and hopefully he'll have had a great day!
I miss him already, and assumed that John would too. When we got back from dropping Gabriel off, I heard John from the living room, "Gabriel's not here, so now I can play with his Legos!" That's my John, always looking for the silver lining . . . ;-)
SECOND GRADE?!?! Ohmigoodness!
